I had some meals that sounded different but turned out great. Their choices range from meat and potatoes to Chinese steamed buns. Customer service is good and they have an active Facebook group. I learned some new cooking ideas and have remade several of their recipes that's how good they are.
Placed an order 6 WEEKS in advance and 5 DAYS prior, they canceled due to unforeseen reasons. UNACCEPTABLE. I called their customer service and they knew nothing.

My wife and I decided to subscribe to Blue Apron. Tonight we got our first order ever from them. Astonishingly, two of our three meals came with NO protein (shrimp in one case, chicken in the other).
Customer Service admitted they get their orders wrong 10% of the time!
We made the Cajun Shrimp & Zucchini Bake substituting chicken from our freezer for the shrimp they didn't send. It did taste very good.
There are lots of alternatives to Blue Apron.
We'll have to see if they can quickly address their order accuracy problems. Being able to count on them delivering the order is essential.
Tip for consumers:
I can’t recommend Blue Apron at this point.

We made a meal from the ingredients Blue Apron shipped and used our own chicken.

We moved cities and did not need blue apron anymore, so in about May-July of 2021 I emailed customer support to cancel my subscription (because this is the only way to cancel other than sitting on the phone line for hours) and never heard back. Of course, I eventually forgot to skip a few meals because months had gone by and my card was charged and the package sent to my previous address, which again I don't live at anymore. I emailed customer service TWO MORE TIMES and yet to this day, December 4th, 2021, I have not heard back or gotten my account cancelled. Really a bad business model, and I would highly discourage anyone looking to start a subscription with BlueApron, as these guys are just shady.
We've been with blue apron for four years. Things have mostly been alright until the last month when literally every single week there has been an issue. The boxes have been late, missing packages, wrong recipes. We've emailed them and they aren't helpful. They only give you credits and not your money back.
We used Blue Apron for about a year. We never really had any issues with service. I believe once or twice in the year there was something not up to quality but overall no issues. Even though there are a variety of choices we became somewhat dissatisfied with them over time. But... using this service did teach us how to cook differently and healthier so it was definitely good for us.
This is one of the greatest concepts I've ever experienced. It's everything you need and nothing you don't and the perfect portions. My wife is an incredible cook and we can't go to restaurants because she doesn't like anything. She has loved every single recipe and thinks I'm a classically trained chef. Whether your an experienced cook or you can barely boil water, this concept works for everyone. If you can read, you can cook. And a lot of the recipes or some thing I never would've thought of fixing for myself. I cannot say enough about blue apron and the delicious meals. And the price is right as well. Dinner at a nasty Fast food place for two is almost the same price.
Food in Blue Apron is the most delicious! Already 6 months only your client. Well done, continue the same, success!
We were given Blue Apron meals for Christmas. The first order was wrong and the second showed up 3 days late and was spoiled. The next two were on time but mediocre. The next one was 3 days late and spoiled. The company gives you a credit but is not reliable in getting you deliveries. We closed our account and left the balance to them. Hope to never hear from them again. Hello Fresh seems to be much better and reliable.

My experience using Blue Apron
Overall, using Blue Apron wasn't the best experience, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I enjoy cooking and Blue Apron's fast and easy to cook meals were a little too simple.
Food quality
The food was always fresh when it arrived and could last a few days in the fridge, or, if you need to wait longer to make certain meals, the food was fine being frozen.
Taste
Blue Apron's food never tasted bad, but it didn't taste high quality either. That's likely due to the fact that most of their food simply didn't call for enough spice. Once I added more salt or pepper or chili flake (you get the point), the food was a little better, but still fairly bland.
For the cost of Blue Apron, I don't feel that the food quality is necessarily worth it. You pay upwards of $50 for two meals a week (and that's just dinner), so you'll need to go grocery shopping anyway, and by the time you've bought everything you need, Blue Apron's price doesn't seem very budget friendly.
Recipe cards
For the most part, the recipes led you in the right direction. But, as I said above, for those who have never, or rarely made full meals, the recipe cards can be hard to follow. You're told to do multiple tasks at once—which is hard even for more experienced home cooks, and there's a lot of assumption that you know how to chop vegetables properly, know how to add the right spices, and multi-task.
In my experience with other meal delivery services (Plated, for example), the recipe cards have helpful tips that instruct you how to do every single step, no matter how small.
I was excited to try Blue Apron until I got my first 2 boxes. The food I got was not the freshest and while there were ice packs in the bottom of the box, it wasn't all that cold, everything had completely defrosted, and I took the boxes from the delivery guy's hands. The chicken that was by the ice packs was defrosted to the point that the juices that are natural with chicken after it thaws, leaked everywhere in the box. The grape tomatoes were soft rather than firm and the peppers were wrinkled and not at all fresh. The tilapia I got was farm-raised rather than wild which I don't care for. The portions are also very small, not that small portions are a bad thing, especially if you're trying to lose weight, but it's something to be aware of. On the website, it shows plates being very full, but the only way the plates could be that full is if they were sandwich (small) rather than dinner plates; that's how small the portions are. When you look at the small portions and then look at the calories for those small portions, which are overwhelmingly high, then there is nothing on Blue Apron that is suitable for those trying to be healthy and lose weight. You pay a premium price, even with coupons, for very small portions and food that's far from premium. I had to supplement my meals with additional vegetables to make the meals more healthy and filling.
As far as taste, it was okay but not great and absolutely not worth the cost or effort since I still had to cook the meal.

It's a food delivery service
The recipes are easy to follow. The food is tasteful. Sometimes the fresh produce is damaged in the packaging. It does make dinner time easier not having to think what to cook and there is no waste with the food. You get exactly the right amount. I have been doing the Freestyle WW meals and it is so easy to just scan the barcode to track your meal and not have to list every ingredient.
I am unsure how this company stays in business. My first order of three meals arrived on time. They package several smaller items inside a sealed plastic bag. The smaller package of roasted (with liquid) was open and had spilled everywhere. Upon inspection, I also noticed the dried pepper package was open. Both packages did not come open during the delivery process. They were put inside already open, one cut by scissors and one peeled back. Blue Apron gave me a $10 credit but were indifferent to the real issue. The choice of meals each weeks is weak with two of the thirteen choices costing upwards of $20 more if you decide to go that route. Yesterday I get a notice my delivery was not going to be on time but one day late. I called Blue Apron who told me the carrier did not put it on the truck. I just called OnTrac, the delivery company where the package was to be recieved. They informed me the package never left Blue Apron! On Trac closed their case because they don't have a package from Blue Apron to be delivered. I am on hold now waited to speak to Blue Apron again to see what BS they are going to throw my way this time. What a shady company.

food delivery
Very disappointed with this service. They kept changing my delivery date from Tuesday to Friday, even after I complained.
Fresh, organic, tasty! I have really enjoyed the food and recipes. Everything is measured out and ready and at my fingertips.
We gave Blue Apron a try two times about a year apart. If we actually received the delivery the food, it was good and fresh and easy to prepare.
Unfortunately, the 9 out of 10 deliveries were cancelled by Blue Apron... claiming carrier issues. The biggest problem was that we had shopped and planned our menus around the service. They left us in a lurch so many times that we had to give up using them:(
About a year later, we thought we would try again and hoped they had solved their delivery problems. They didn't. We got our first order just fine and on time. The second one said it was on time for delivery, but the day of scheduled delivery said it was delayed. Two days later they cancelled our order. So zero meals for the week :( Back to the grocery:(
Tried to call them and find out what was really going on and maybe get them to fix the delivery problems. The rep was less than useless.
Finally cancelled and going back to Hello Fresh, at least They can get the food delivered!
I would never have considered this option before COVID-19. Doing that much work to prepair and cook food, the cleanup, etc. But, working from home, staying home to be safe, the quest for good, healthy and fresh food when I really do not know how to cook, Blue Apron has turned out to be a life saver!

Wellness for 2
I only received 3 shipments from Blue Apron. The last 2 shipments were not the meals I picked. In the 2 meals where I got kale, 1 had a dead grasshopper in it and the other had a dead beetle. I was constantly missing ingredients like garlic, tomato and olives. The food was not that fresh. The reason I tried this meal delivery was that everything was included, food would be fresh and I wouldn't have to go to the store. Personally, for me, the food and seasonings are not that great. Add to the fact that I didn't get the meals I picked and paid for. I cancelled my account since their resolution was to offer me $30 off future deliveries. I was very dissatisfied with their meals, delivery and business tactics.
We are ordering food from Blue Apron from last 6 months and we are loving it... I saved much of time
My delivery got delayed, I already didn't had the time to make lunch and these guys made it even worse, is it so difficult to call and inform me rather than ignoring?
I have good experience with this company. Their recipes and food are just awesome! And the service is very good. Better than other companies.
It's basically nice and simple...
Also straight to the point
To be honest I love it
Blue apron to the world
I loved the blue apron meal boxes, except for the chopping. The only reason I quit using them was because I found a cheaper option. Blue apron is on the pricier side. Otherwise a great option to make gourmet meals yourself.
Blue Apron should consider alternatives to how meals are packaged and shipped. There are too much packaging including plastic containers and bags which has no where to go, but into the environment. I cannot consider a relstionship with this company.
I ordered a meal plan from Blue Apron for my parents. They absolutely loved it! After a week, I meant to cancel my plan, but there was some technical issue that didn't allow the cancellation to process. After working with the people at Blue Apron, they helped cancel my subscription and reimbursed me for the additional weeks that I was charged for. Great food! Great service! I'll definitely be ordering from them again in the future!
They DEFINITELY hide the "cancel" button - I had to email them to find it, and they said "you can always just pause your deliveries!" but you have to hand click each week you want paused, and you can only go a few weeks out. If you do that and forget, deliveries will start up again automatically. It felt very sneaky.
Hello. You do not know what time the box will arrive, just which day, and you pick which day you want it. I have never had anything spoiled or overheated in our box; there are "ice packets" in it. So as far as choice of meals... when you first sign up you can make choices about things you don't want. We selected no seafood and no walnuts. I wouldn't go crazy opting out of stuff; you can imagine that takes away so many options for delicious recipes. If you have a lot of special food needs, I don't think a meal service is for you. Anyway, we get our box on Tuesdays and on Monday I receive an email saying my box is on its way and what recipes are in it. That email also tells you what's coming for the next week. You can change your recipes up to a few days ahead, which might be convenient if you are worried about what you are getting. You can also go online and see many weeks out and change any of those too. I will say this though, if you are picky picky and not open minded about trying new recipes, I don't know if you should sign up. Blue Apron's recipes are very unique and have a lot of ethnic flavor profiles and spices and things like that; but they have all been great, again, if you want to have fun and try new things. There have been a couple where we thought maybe we should change that, maybe we won't like it, but we didn't and just went ahead and tried it and we have not regretted it once. You can see more on the review I posted.
Blue Apron makes cooking fun and easy. We'll provide you with all the ingredients that you need to make a delicious meal in exactly the right proportions.
