I recently purchased 3 pairs of workout / leggings and 3 sweaters. The quality was great on all of them. And they fit really well, too, thanks to accurate sizing labels online. The only "complaint" in have is that instead of all coming in 1 package, they came in 3 separate mailings, which meant that there was more waste and postage than necessary. Nevertheless, i look forward to returning to thredUP for some future shopping needs.

And their return policy is only 14 days, you must pay for the shipping and restock fees. It's impossible to get in touch with actual customer service reps as well. Borderline scam-like. Use other retailers if at all possible. Attached photo is holes in the rear of an item said to be in 'excellent' condition.

False listings of items and their condition, material and wear

Stealing from Goodwill and Sal Val which use the funds from sales for the community. The items bought literally were from there or the bins you see in the parking lots that say that they are -for profit-.

They stink to high heaven of perfume and dirty socks. They do not resemble the photos.

This business is a scam LIke so many online

I would have felt a whole lot better if I had donated them as well cause I only made $. 50 from the app and is said to only be getting $31 after Sending in 17 items I had no idea they would take most of the money they had placed on the items after sales. It's such a waste of time, I wish there was an option for no star. KMT, judgment day is coming for all you scammers out there rubbish. My evidence is attached so y'all can see they price them for a lot and send u pennies. This is bulls***.

You can pay for the items to be sent back to you but that takes forever as they take 20 donkey years to review and send it to you am yet to see mine

I recently purchased 3 pairs of workout / leggings and 3 sweaters.

Don't waste your time if you think you're going to make any money.
I honestly feel like I should've just thrown my stuff away instead of Thred Up insulting me with a ridiculous payout of $0 for a brand new (never used) Coach wristlet (which they had listed as gently used)! Then charging $10 to return clothing they don't like, so I end up making ZERO dollars. I could've thrown it in the garbage and felt better about it - rather than feeling like I got scammed!

Purchased a bunch of clothing end of July and returned them to find the clothes we're in poor condition and smelled like cigarette smoke. Returned the items for my money back even though they deducted $10 for whatever reason. Anyways returned the items almost two weeks ago and STILL haven't gotten my money back it's impossible to get in touch with anyone no phone number no one available on live chat and no one answers emails. Scam company I'll never purchase from them again

ThredUp accepts items with so much inconsistency that it is impossible to predict what they will accept and what they will "reject." They clearly make a significant profit off the "rejected" items as well but force you to decide in advance whether you will accept their rejections. You will lose (have stolen) valuable items without explanation. Very untrustworthy. Not recommended.

Hello, I sent 5 huge bags of clothing including many name brand items to Thread up. They paid me nothing and kept everything. After I messaged them on Facebook they blocked me. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

Better make sure you thoroughly go over the return policy. If you choose free label it's returned as a store credit, if you pay for the label you'll get your money back in full. Also! If you're using affirm, you still have to make your affirm payments if you get store credit. So still making payments on a return you made. Part of me wants to not even bother with my store credit but it would literally be throwing my own money away. Frustrating!

I have sent 3 bags over a 1 month period just to get my closet cleaned out. These clothes were all fairly new … the last bag contained an authentic Prada backpack purse. No record of it being in the bag …
It is impossible to reach these people by phone
The internet chat is a joke with palliative answers
No one has ever called me back
The Prada backpack was authentic… I believe it was taken for resale somewhere else.
I will not use this company again.
Beware of the scam!
UPDATE… I finally did receive an email after I contacted the Media site. The email says they reserve the right to not accept any items. Yes. But the Prada is not even listed as not accepted. Theft? Yes in my opinion. Scam artists. Live and learn!

Use some local resale or check Google reviews first
If I had done that, I would not have lost a $2500 purse.

Great prices, fast shipping, the LEAST amount of packaging I have ever seen on an online purchase (THANK YOU for caring about the environment!) that was also re-usable. And the best part: giving some gently used clothing a new life outside of a landfill! I tell everyone about thredUP, can't recommend it enough :)

I returned my entire box to Thred up on the final day given by the Company on 10/16/2020. On Sunday 10/25/2020 they charged me the full price of my box $256.90. I used their label! I have been e-mailing since Monday morning 10/26/2020 with no response! Nothing has been posted to my account! BUYER BEWARE! I went on Facebook and saw were another individual returned their products in JUNE and still has no resolution! This is a unacceptable way to do business!

One item was heavily stained with pulled threads. Another had a button literally falling off. I wouldn't buy these items at a garage sale for the $2 restocking fee. Only one item arrived as described. The whole box reeked of bad perfume. If you're a seamstress, willing to gamble, and looking for unusual items that fit your style and wallet or only buy new with tags, go for it. Otherwise Poshmark is a lot better, and the sellers get the money, not some start up tech CEO. I'd love to help you think secondhand first Jim, but this business model fails.

Tip for consumers:
Only buy new with tags or be prepared for heavily used items which you won’t be able to resell and will need to clean and repair before wearing. You also need to know your size in the brand you’re buying because the descriptions on the site are not helpful.

Products used:
Honestly, it’s probably a better use of my resources to try to repair the items versus trying to return them. I just won’t be using this service again.

I recently purchased a faux leather jacket from thred up and as I was searching the pockets I found a pair of unwashed women's panties! I'm totally disappointed and disgusted by this! How can they not have someone who checks the items before sending them out! They have just lost a customer!

I had decided to clean out my closet and had a dress that was a designer $600 in my bag. They put it under some strange brand. I saw the price they listed it for was $12 …. And my payout would be $ 2.50! I emailed them immediately too please change prices or ship back to me. The girl said she would work on it immediately. A week later, I check my kit and the item was SOLD. I learned my lesson and will just donate clothes completely in the future. I feel that this company just wants to be greedy… will not use EVER again

I shop ThredUp a lot, and basically it's a good site, but often the descriptions aren't accurate, and things like side decorations aren't shown. Side slits aren't shown. Sometimes description is purely wrong - ex. Is a cold shoulder top listed as sleeveless. Fabric is hard to determine, too. Look closely at picture to try to suss out knits vs. shiny stuff, or that pimply poly/spandex blend. Don't depend on colors being true in pix. They, or your monitor, can be off. Size chart isn't always accurate. Asian 2X is not what chart says. Just shop carefully and remember you'll pay $2 for "oh, I didn't look that closely" returns.

Look items over very closely and don't trust descriptions if item looks different.

Do not use this online clothing store if you want anything delivered less then 4 weeks. Poor customer service where they completely lie to your face that their behind and lie about the process should take 3 to 5 business days even though your package has been in transit for 3 weeks already!

Tip for consumers:
Customer service reps are lieing about how long it takes to process sales orders and returns. They shipped a blouse with a stain on the center front. Their shipping tracking system changes eta daily. One minute it's arriving tomorrow then 3 days later the eta is pending for 5 days in a row. Customer service say "sorry" for delay.

I sent a clean out bag in (as I have done before), received an acknowledgment that it was being processed. After a few weeks go by a receive a thank you for your donation from thredup. I am shocked by this as some of the items included in my clean out bag were brand named with tags. I sent an email to their customer service only to be told that there was nothing that could be done. I'm very upset over this and will not recommend or use thredup again.

When I placed a rather large order, I made sure my address was updated before placing it. They sent it to an old address anyway and are telling me they will only refund my money if the package happens to get returned. I have no way to get the package returned when they left it on a porch somewhere. Fed ex said they would have to request for the package to be picked back up and taken to the right address. That is what they should have done.

This company is a total rip off! Sent clothes in to sell, first they lost one of my clean out kits, secondly did not return all my items that were supposed to be return to me. Then I go to reclaim items that didn't sell they are charging 5.99 reclaim fee for each item. No where was it shown anywhere when I sent the cleanout bags that I would be charged for that. I will never use this company again or recommend it total scam.

Impossible to reach when there's an issue. I have ordered from them once before and had no issues. However, this time is different. I ordered some beach dresses one week in advance of when I wanted them. They shipped within two days and I thought everything was fine. My package is sitting on the other side of the country for the last three days with no updates. There is no expected date of delivery. I cannot find a way to reach anybody at threat up to get answers. I would not order from them again and do not recommend them

Thredup is terrible... Still have not received payout for clothing... Don't do business with this company they're horrible... You would come out better by giving your clothing away... 200.00 dollars worth of clothing... When they do decide to payout. I will receive, (4.24)... Stay away from this place.

Made a purchase of about $1000 that never arrived. The company claimed the address was changed and then not found but it's an actual Post Office (confirmable on google) where FedEx & UPS delivers.
The sector of fedex that they use does not even allow changes so they put he wrong address on the label initially or fraudulently kept my merchandise. I spoke with fedex directly and receive a case number with them as they confirmed and provided documentation of Thredup's fabrications. My shipment was delivered to an address in a city that was not even listed on my account. Thread up then stated they would do nothing about it and recommended speaking with my bank. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, FTC and are filing a police report. It is insane and unacceptable.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THREDUP!

I was pretty excited about this idea when my friend told me. I picked out $180 of items and I'd say half of the items fit and look good enough. Nothing I LOVE though. A normal shopping trip for me. Except to return the unwanted items you lose 1.99 per item in "restocking" and also lose the shipping if you want your money back over a store credit. I took the store credit - but I will never buy from them again once I use it up.

The idea behind thredup is brilliant. In practice, it doesn't live up to the hype. After receiving my items, it took the thredup team six months to go through and price. The prices for the seller are atrocious. As an example, I sent in a brand new, never worn $120 pair of running shoes. I could have sold them on Facebook Marketplace for $60. With thredup my take was $8. In summary, find another option for selling your goods.

I almost always sell on eBay first. Then when I don't feel like hanging on to the clothes any more and just want my closet space back and they have been on eBay for months, I will send to thredUP. I don't even send in that high end of items and I will usually get $16 and up per bag. So to me, it's a last resort, but I usually can expect something even if it's a little. I LOVE thredUP for buying. Use their upfront calculator to see what items they take. They will say 50 cents to 1.00 per item so it is not hidden info. There is always the return option where you can get your entire bag back for $12.99 as well. Everyone who has nice stuff they'd want back should opt for this method always.

Because I sent in 575.00 worth of clothes and recieved 8.00 in credit, half of them had tags still on them and were high priced items. When I asked for proof why they did not take them in they said they had stains on them. I asked for pics because they were brand new, they squirted water on them and took a pic. It takes a couple months to even get your credit and when you buy womens clothes, half the time I was sent stained or childrens sized clothes, TWICE is a much better company.

Honestly this company is not choosing to accept a lot of product that could easily be listed. I have sent bags and bags, including valuable pieces... cashmere sweaters, high end items of considerable retail cost and relatively recently produced. When questioned I am given the response that the items were not in as good a shape as they wanted them to be. That their buyers should be able to buy perfect product. My take on this is... if it's a 200 dollar cashmere sweater and the purchase price is under 10 dollars, a few pills on the fabric should be a non issue! Period. I question what is going on, frankly, as many do. Too much disappears with no explanation, many bags go into complete reject status. I genuinely am concerned that there is a story here and may become apparent after a while. Only time will tell.

Not worth it unless you have stuff priced over $40 and can get 40%. There percentages are ridiculous for lower priced clothes. You can order return assurance for about $12 but be prepared to get a bag back with your items stuffed in like garbage. They do not even take the time to fold things nicely even though you pay for this service.
